Multiply any odd number by 5

Example  1 : 5 x 3

Step 1 :  Subtract one from the number being multiplied by 5, in this instance (3 -1) = 2.

Step 3 :  Now halve the number 2, which makes it = 1.

Step 3 :  Make 5 the last digit.

Example  1 : 54*54 = 2916

Step 1 : Square the first digit of 54 (i.e. 5) and add the second digit to it (i.e. 4), so here  (5*5) + 4 = 29

Step 2 : Square the second digit in 54 (i.e. 4), so here 4*4 = 16

Step 3 : Append the result of Step 1 & Step 2. 2916 (It’s the final answer)

Example  1 : 33*33 = 1089

Step 1 : Square of 3 = 09

Step 2 : Take one less than the number of digits in 33 = (2-1) = 1

Step3 : Hence put one space before each digit of Step 1 above .i.e. _ 0 _9

Step 4 : Fill in the space before 9 with a digit 1 less than 9 .i.e. _ 089

Step 5 : Fill in the space before 0 with a digit 1 greater than 0 i.e. 1089

Step 6 : 1089 (It’s the final answer)

 

Example : 333*333 = 110889

Step 1 : Square of 3 = 09
